The DePlorables are the worst band you’ve never heard and are back at it by unpopular demand. The DePlorables came together in January 2019 for a charity gig and have since demanded charity from their audience (which is sometimes singular). The DePlorables had to cut short their “One Night Only: One Night Too Many” world tour of Pearl Street Warehouse in 2020 due to the pandemic (which many pointed out was the one positive unintended consequence of COVID-19). The DePlorables specialty is 70s glam rock and punk, although their audiences rarely recognize what they are playing. The DePlorables are: Erik “The Hitman” Huey (dynamic front man); Chris “The Dude” Boesen (bass); Ken Sigmund “the Sea Monster” (lead guitar); Joel “Thunderstix” Theros (drums); and “the Consigliere of Rockabilly” Elliot Berke (rhythm guitar).
The Fine Print
Featuring legal talent from Shulman Rogers, The Law Offices of Alan Tilles
Rocking for DC Bar Pro Bono Center
The Fine Print is honored to have been voted the best band in three of its five Law Rocks appearances. But we're more proud of having raised so much money for several charities. With the encouragement of our friends, family and colleagues, we've decided to try to be entertaining once again. We also appreciate how supportive many of our law firm competitors have been. You make it fun for us, and look forward to challenging ourselves to up our game.
Harmful Interference
Featuring legal talent from the FCC; Meta; USTelecom; the Wireless Infrastructure Association; Verizon; and Somos
Rocking for Miriam's Kitchen
Harmful Interference is made up of telecom law and policy geeks who play in various original and cover bands around the city. While we don’t always agree with each other in our 9 to 5 jobs, we all agree that we are really excited to be back at the 9:30 Club, especially because we are rocking again for Miriam’s Kitchen, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Washington DC. It is almost as exciting as talking about Pole Attachments or Part 15 Waivers! Our set features an eclectic mix of rock covers and covers of covers. We may have to file an ex parte at the end of the show, but it will be worth it!
Larry and the Landlawyers
Featuring legal talent from Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, & Walsh, PC
Rocking for HomeAid National Capital Region
Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh has a little known secret weapon at its disposal: the powerful sound of Larry and the Land Lawyers, a rollicking band led by three attorneys at the firm: the esteemed Mark Goetzman on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, the amazing Mike Kieffer on lead guitar, the super-cool John Rinaldi on the Bass Guitar. They are joined by the Larry Clark (of FDG) on Drums.
Night Work
Featuring legal talent from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP
Rocking for Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia
The members of Night Work are from the DC office of Akin Gump and Georgetown University Law Center. The genesis of the band dates back to the 80s – trade partners Steve Kho and Tom McCarthy playing Genesis, among other rockers, in their high school band, which they think might have been named No Outlet. Steve and Tom went separate ways in college, and have toured the country with their own bands, and Tom continues to record and play with his bands No Second Troy and the Reserves (those names are included to encourage you to look for them on streaming services, along with J.R. Molm’s band, The Restatements). They reunited by fate at Akin primarily with the ambition of rising to the top of the DC legal rock scene, and selected the firm as their home because of the depth of musical talent at the firm. Drummer Scott Alberino, a leader in Akin’s Financial Restructuring practice, is routinely selected as one the greats by himself and his bandmates. Lead vocalists Jennifer Richter (Telecom), Esther Lander (Labor), and Matt Nicely (Trade) have been regularly compared to Fleetwood Mac by associates at the firm looking for bonuses. Summer associate J.R. Molm, a law student and lead vocalist/guitarist of fantastic local band The Restatements, rounds out the rhythm section. The band debated various names, including Law and Disorder and Habeas Porpoise, but settled on Night Work in honor of the firm’s founder, Bob Strauss. Mr. Strauss famously said to a client that “You’ve given us your night work; now can we have your day work?” The band also plays under that name with Akin attorneys from other offices, and is really just trying to live up to the Akin Houston band, which has won Law Rocks Houston several times -- at least that is what they told us. We are happy to be rocking for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia.
Noise in the Basement

We are excited to once again ditch our power suits to dance, sing and bang our heads with the Law Rocks crowd. Featuring legal professionals from Venable, Noise in the Basement can be seen around the DC area playing its version of high-energy, alt-rock songs from the last four decades.

Willy and the Halestormers
Featuring legal talent from WilmerHale; Fried Frank
Rocking for The Scarlett Fund
Willy C. Picker cut his teeth playing country and blues in small clubs along the banks of the Potomac. He had a loyal following, but was never able to break into the big time until he joined up with a brash band of Boston rockers—the Hale Stormers. Together, Willy and the Hale Stormers deliver an energetic and eclectic mix of rock and R&B. They are excited to return to the Law Rocks stage, and equally excited to raise money for the Scarlett Fund, which helps fund groundbreaking pediatric cancer research.

While West End traffic grinds to a standstill, Ruggs fans will be anything but, as some of the world’s greatest tunes are regurgitated as only this dynamic 7-strong outfit know how. Special Guests, The Sunset Four
Roaring from the king tides onto the shores of Miami Beach, comes The Sunset Four, the world’s youngest Beatles tribute show! The group is inspired by the Miami Beach 2nd performance of The Beatles on the famed Ed Sullivan show on February 16th 1964. The four members, Oliver Lieberman, Zoe & Evangeline Lyons, and Warren Bromley, all now 13 years old, are lifelong residents on Miami Beach. The group has been performing at local venues and schools for the past four years, and have mainly focused on charitable events. The unlikeliness of four youngsters becoming a Beatles tribute show has created a huge draw to their shows, which sometimes have had up to 1500 in live audience, and an astonishing 18,000 live streaming shows.

The Urge — A rock cover band playing throughout South Florida. The band has played together in various incarnations since 1996. Notably, the stage at the North Beach Bandshell, the Law Rocks venue, is “The Clark Douglas Burris Stage” who was the original founder of the Rock Ensemble and taught music at Miami Beach Senior High School for 40 years while fighting MS.
The Manolete Minstrel
Starring legal talent from Manolete Partners Plc
Rocking for Great Ormond Street Hospital
The Manolete Minstrel was recently unmasked as Manolete Plc CEO, Steven Cooklin. Steven has something of a death wish: he only started to learn to play guitar during lockdown and will perform a solo set. This will set the bar at an extremely low level for the talented musicians that are to follow.
The Stragglers
Starring legal talent from CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP
Rocking for Duchenne UK
Paul Smith - Paul honed his vocal skills shouting at the kids. He started out on keys but moved to guitar when he realised that sitting at the piano stool prevented him from dancing like a pig farmer. And then moved back to keys, with the odd bit of guitar, when he realised that his dancing was not an asset. The set list has improved since he was stopped from choosing songs. Paul proves two immutable truths: (1) coming from Liverpool does not make you a Beatle; but (2) it does make you think you're one.
Menna Haf - Menna started in the band as chief roadie, but quickly proved unsuited to the job, so switched to piano and then vocals. Mostly found sitting. And resting. And sending social media updates. Looks better in a frock than any of the other members of the band, although Marcus runs her a pretty close second. Stands at the front of the stage to shelter the audience from the hideously deformed Jon Dames.
Jonathan (“Johnny B Goode”) Dames - Jon grew up on the mean streets of Nottingham dodging small arms fire. Learnt to "play" guitar by twanging on a solitary line of barbed wire running along the wall at the back of his parents' council house. Usually sounds like he's still doing just that. He has a face for radio, which is a shame because it's extremely unlikely any station would want to spin any record he played on.
Marcus Barclay - Marcus invented the stereotype about drummers being people who hang around with musicians. Despite only having to remember to bring himself and his sticks, usually turns up at band practices and asks if anyone has sticks he can borrow. And whether anyone's seen the drummer. Not quick to the bar.
Jonathan (“Jon Bon Jovi”) Amory - Jon "completes" the band, but not in the Jerry Maguire sense. The only ringer. Acquired from the local agricultural college, he spends his days staring at sheep, and it has had a predictable toll on his social skills and sense of humour. Spends a lot of time talking about what he played and how he played it. When anyone (inside or outside the band) is quizzed on the point, they almost invariably say: "There's a bass player?"
It shouldn't work ... and most of the time it doesn't. They are "The Stragglers".
KC Demolition
Starring legal talent from Keating Chambers
Rocking for TBD
KC Demolition - the Bar's standout choice of Rock Band. Two KC's, four Barristers and a Clerk. Yes we know it sounds like a hit US TV soap opera, but the only drama is getting this lot off the stage! Born to be in the front of the crowd, with a love for Judges by day and Judges by night! Rock at it's finest and at it's SILKiest best...well, until you hear them...!
The TransPerfections
Starring legal talent from TransPerfect, Kennedys, Wotton & Kearney
Coming in hot from a killer performance at their first Law Rocks in 2019 - the TransPerfections are coming back with a bang. Get excited for some more on stage antics and sing along anthems.
Sounds Like Mixed Spirits
Starring legal talent from Gilbert + Tobin
Founded by G+T partner and Law Rocks veteran Phil Turner, Sounds Like Mixed Spirits upholds the Law Rocks Sydney tradition of an ageing guitar enthusiast convincing his younger, more talented colleagues to get up on stage with him to raise money for great charities. The name reflects Phil’s love of grunge music and puns. While the pun might be questionable, it is undoubtedly a more appropriate name than Danny’s Boys, particularly given the diversity within the band. Sounds Like Mixed Spirits comprises: singers Cat Chen, Stephanie Essey, Amy Huang, Emma Frederiksen and Kelly Cai; the dual saxophones of India Monaghan and Jason Yau; Phil, Nath Allen and Sefton Powrie on guitar; Jia Lee on keys; Darren Walters on bass and Louisa Sinclair on drums. Law Rocks Sydney 2022 will be the band’s debut performance.
MintEllica
Starring legal talent from Minter Ellison
MintEllica returns for another crack at the title, rocking out to its signature blend of high-energy headbangers and classic crowd favourites.
Fuelit
Featuring legal talent from May, Potenza, Baran & Gillespie
Fuelit is a six-piece classic rock band that’s been playing together in one form or another for more than 25 years, mostly at biker venues and charity gigs. In our day jobs we are an engineer, a couple of IT professionals, a piano restorer and a lawyer. Oh and then there's Slick, our bass player. He's just professionally cool.
The Hoodlums
Featuring legal talent from Fennemore; First Cup
The Hoodlums are a five-piece family band with four musically talented people and a momager relegated to the cow bell. Lailah, the drummer, is 7 years old and the heartbeat of the band. Henry, 11, is the lead singer and lead guitarist. Ellora, 12, is on keys and the band’s stylist. Nicolle, age not disclosed, is a business lawyer and co-founder of My First Nest Egg, a company dedicated to teaching children financial literacy. Sean, a litigator and water lawyer at Fennemore, Arizona’s oldest law firm, has passed his musical talent and love for 80’s rock to his children. Despite his skills of persuasion, Sean’s children vetoed his requests for self-indulgent guitar solos. The Hoodlums are thrilled to support Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers with the hope that every kid will have the opportunity to learn and play music.
Probustus
Featuring legal talent from Evans Dukarich
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Unless you called Probustus. Then it would smell exactly like a group of dads from Tempe who like to jam on weekends. We want to be rockstars but, you know, we have lives. Michael practices law and plays lead guitar. Andy is a teacher who also happens to sing and play guitar. Paul is a renaissance man who has been credited as a pilot, teacher, and drummer. Little is known of Alex’s past. Maybe he’s the result of top-secret government experiments. Or maybe he’s just a good dude with a penchant for playing bass and gardening.
psych 101
Featuring legal talent from Miller Kory Rowe; Evans Dukarich
Modern rock band psych 101 is composed of attorneys Jeff Miller (vocals, guitars) and Steve Evans (bass, vocals), architect George Catone (guitar, vocals), and Bob Bunger (drums). All of their songs are original compositions and can be found on the band’s CDs, “Attachment Disorder” and “Bipolar.” The band’s first CD was reviewed in The New Times and described as “danceable dirges” featuring “psychedelic burnout guitar, goth-bop beats [and] snaky bass.” The band was also asked to contribute its song “Wonderland” to The New Times’ annual “Best Of” issue.

From Adele to Zeppelin, Journey to Van Halen, Guns n Roses to Velvet Revolver, Boston to Kansas and Toto, Styx to Stones, the Black Crowes to the White Stripes, Aerosmith to Jet, Blue Oyster Cult to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Heart to Paramore, Alien Ant Farm to Michael Jackson, the Cult to Kravitz, Boston to Bon Jovi, Jefferson Starship to Foreigner, Elle King to Prince, Scandal to Dramarama, Petty to Mellencamp, AC/DC to U2, The Killers to The Knack, Florence + The Machine to No Doubt, Def Leppard to Foo Fighters, Rihanna to Rage Against the Machine, Grace Potter to Greta Van Fleet, Ratt to the Doobie Brothers…you get the picture…
The Allen Keys

We’ve got cracking guitarists, a brilliant bassist, crafty keys, a tip-top drummer and some stunning singers who have found time between court dashes to put together a super exciting setlist. From classic Aussie rock to bluesy southern Americana, we’ve done our due diligence to ensure your feet are tappin' and hands are clappin'.

The Weil'd Things
Featuring legal talent from Weil, Gotshal & Manges

With more line-up changes than Fleetwood Mac, and (sadly) much less sex, drugs and rocknroll, The Weil’d Things represent the London office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Bringing together an eclectic mix of musical tastes and genres, The Weil’d Things play songs you know and will (hopefully) sing and dance to.
The Assumptions

Rock Judge - Doc Reno
Cancer nearly silenced the voice of national radio powerhouse Doc Reno.
It also led the dynamo media personality to launch the My Family Matters Foundation to fill a heart-breaking need he encountered during his treatment and recovery.
Originally from Cleveland, Doc Reno came to South Florida in 2002. Here, he built a coast-to-coast following for iHeartRadio with shows in major markets including New York, Washington, D.C., San Diego, Dallas, in addition to right here at BIG 105.9 in Miami.
At the same time, he pursued a healthy lifestyle, becoming an avid runner who has completed marathons and half-marathons. He serves the community through his association with many charities including Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital.
In the spring of 2018, Doc Reno was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. During 35 rounds of radiation and six rounds of rigorous chemo, he never missed one of his daily shows.
He was hospitalized twice.
“I met nurses and doctors and heard stories,” Doc Reno says. “I met people who were struggling financially. I learned there are programs that help you with medical bills, but they don’t pay your house payment or your car payment or buy groceries.”
Doc Reno was moved by the parents and family members who missed work to take their child or relative to the countless medical appointments required for successful cancer treatment. Often, the caregiver’s pay is docked.
Then, after a particularly difficult morning that sent Doc Reno to the hospital, the cold reality hit home.
His wife Erin stayed at his side until he was released that evening. The following week, her paycheck was missing one day’s salary.
“This really happens. I heard everyone’s story. Now it happened to us,” Doc Reno says. “This is happening, and people need help.”
He launched My Family Matters Foundation in the fall of 2018.
“I wanted to create my own foundation because nobody is going to be more passionate about it than I am,” he says.
Doc Reno’s longstanding work with Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital led to My Family Matters’ successful partnership with the hospital’s foundation.
Today, 3 1/2 years after his diagnosis, Doc Reno is cancer free.
He says, “My wife told me, ‘You are going to help people after you beat this.’ That’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Rock Judge - Judge Orest Jejna
Orest has been a judge in the City of Scottsdale for the past 21 years. The Court handles primarily misdemeanor cases of every category. Prior to taking the bench, Orest had a criminal defense practice that took him all over the country. While criminal law was his primary area of practice , Orest’s real passion is the protection of International Human Rights and most recently assisting Ukraine in the defense of its country. He graduated from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York and attended law school at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
The love of rock and roll came at an early age when Orest took up the guitar during the British invasion involving the Beatles, Rolling Stones , The Who and others. As the world of rock and roll developed, Orest’s interests in musical genre went from the southern rock of the Marshall Tucker Band, the Allman Brothers to the sounds of Crosby , Stills, Nash and Young and the Doobie Brothers. There isn’t a rock and roll sound or style that isn’t appreciated by Orest. The most gratifying part of music is playing it. Orest continues to play with setting up jam sessions with local musicians and lawyers who play in local bands. The best part of the sessions is playing whatever everyone is in the mood for without having to worry about an audience.
