Punch latitude 19˚ and longitude 81˚ into the GPS and you will be whisked away to the swaying palms and idyllic waters of the Cayman Islands. But behind the world famous Seven Mile Beach and docile blue iguanas lies a harsher reality. Four young(-ish) lads, their sound forged on the rum cake factory floors and in sweatshop law firms, their hair tossed (away) by the trade winds and their music spiced and smoky with jerk seasoning. They met her by chance at a swanky fish fry and knew at once that she'd give voice to their low down and dirty offshore financial centre blues. Bursting (OK, stumbling) onto the scene in late 2013, and currently part way through their maiden sold out tour of Western Caribbean car parks, 1981 come to Law Rocks for the first time. Distilled 100% per cent proof from the purest Walkers stock, Neil (Lead Guitar and Yorkshire grit), Tim (Rhythm Guitar and haka), Rolf (Bass and pomade), Andrew (Drums and pads) and Natalie (Soaring Vox) are bringing the Caribbean heat to New York City this winter.
The Endless Thread
The “Endless Thread,” sometimes misinterpreted as the “Endless Threat” (in the contexts of battle of the band contests) is a powerhouse think-tank of lawyers and musicians whose power to move the soul is so great, so compelling, it has caused prosecutors and defense attorneys to join hands and sing. Although the original cast will not be appearing in full, the group is normally composed of two prosecutors, a defense attorney, computer engineer, and a music teacher. Tonight, on stage will be a similar confluence of polar opposites, as two defense attorneys (Andrew Mancilla and Robert Fantone), join forces with prosecutor Lauren Di Chiara, and music professor Bill Pace, to make music that dreams are made of. When they aren’t in the courtroom or classroom, they’re onstage. Enjoy, the Endless Thread.
Mistrial was originally formed in 2014 by five lawyers in White & Case’s NYC office. Known to rock at events large and small, Mistrial features the vocal stylings of Adam Chernichaw (vocals), the riffs of Charles May (guitar), the rhythms of Daniel Cohen (vocals/guitar), the grooves of Raj Gandesha (bass), and the beats of Joshua Weedman (drums). Mistrial excited to bring its spin on modern and classical rock to Law Rocks, and raise some money for HerJustice!
Hogamatics – a motley assortment of Hogan Lovells personnel and alumni – are a collection of veterans of many years of hard gigging, coming together again to rock New York at the Gramercy Theater, and raise funds for their chosen charity, the National Center for Law and Economic Justice
Featuring talented legal professionals from Law Offices of Ronald S. Cook, Law Offices of Jerry Guarino, Law Offices of Cornell Bouse, Law Offices of Buzzel, Blanda & Visconti, and Jim Mathews
Rocking for American Kidney Fund
Just Cause Rock Band, Inc. is a classic rock band. The band is dedicated to charity work and has help raise several hundreds of thousands of dollars for "just causes" since 2010.
The band has supported organized non-profit charities like the March of Dimes, Why Hunger, American Kidney Fund, Cow Harbor Wounded Warriors Project, Northport Ecumenical Food Pantry, Salvation Army Home for Homeless Veterans, Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf, Metropolitan Area Benevolent Fund for Families of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty, and the DDI School for Autistic Children. The band has performed to support people in need due to traumatic illness/disability and families in need due to loss of a loved one.
The Plimptones may be the hardest working band in rock and roll, but that’s just their billable hours. Musically, they strive to walk on the right side of the fine line between clever and stupid, whichever that may be. Their combination of raucous rhythms, sonorous strings, honking horns and multi-part harmonies pays homage to the masters of rock, yesterday and today. They also are known, on occasion, to come up one alliteration short.
