Malicious Code
Featuring legal talent from BakerHostetler; Fish & Richardson; Taft; Stoneturn
Rocking for Catholic Charities Legal Network DC
Malicious Code is back, live, and dangerously unpatched. Last year, they tunneled into LawRocksDC, destroyed all defensive measures, and only left the stage after securing their first LawRocks win. This year, they’re back, louder and even less contained, ready to trigger another incident response across the entire venue. Malicious Code: not technically a threat… but you should definitely report them if spotted live.

Night Work
Featuring legal talent from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld
Rocking for Blood Cancer United
Night Work consists of attorneys from the DC office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, accompanied by our female vocalist and Catholic University law prof Lindsey Cloud. The name Night Work was devised by a broader group of Akin musicians across the firm’s many offices in honor of the firm’s founder, Bob Strauss. Mr. Strauss famously said to a client that “You’ve given us your night work; now can we have your day work?”
Sporting a palatable blend of 70s, 80s and 90s influence, Night Work has taken the music landscape by storm and is ready to deliver another unforgettable evening of your favorite hits and hidden gems. The soaring vocals of Matt Nicely, Lindsey Cloud, and J.R. Molm, virtuosic dynamism of Steve Kho on keys, infectious groove of Brian Pomper on bass, thrilling command of rhythm by Scott Alberino on drums and rip-roaring edge of Tom McCarthy on guitar create a one-of-a-kind sound that leaves audiences wanting more and other attorneys wondering if, they too, can live out their rockstar ambitions.

The Dissenters
Featuring legal talent from Jones Day
Rocking for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
The Dissenters are a seven-piece Classic, 80s, and Modern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, born, fittingly, in the file storage room of Jones Day's Atlanta office in 2025. Six of the band's seven members work at the global law firm Jones Day; the seventh member, Stephanie Blank, wanted to be a part of the band so badly that she married one of the band members. United by a shared, insatiable love of music, including The Allman Brothers, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many other influential bands, The Dissenters fuse hard-hitting guitar, bass, and drum work with strong, harmonized male-female vocals that will make you want to call your best friend from high school after the set. As former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice David Nahmias put it, "The Dissenters play all the songs you forgot you missed."
What sets the band apart is the talent behind the music. Lead guitarist Jason Burnette quite possibly the only clerk of both the U.S. Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit who can also rip the lead on "Sweet Child o' Mine" anchors the group's sound. Up front on vocals is Stephanie Blank, one of Georgia’s most recognized community activists and the only one of them who can bring the house down on everything from "Dani California" to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". Next, Chuck Hodges provides the male vocal harmonies while Koby Shaw and Bobby Bellen mesmerize with vocals and guitar. Holding down our backline is Randy Cecale on bass, and Chaz Rithmire on drums.
With a setlist built to entertain, The Dissenters are thrilled to bring their energy to the Law Rocks stage in support of a good cause.

Tremendous Machine
Featuring legal talent from Secretariat Advisors
Rocking for Catalyst Sports
Made up of legal professionals from Secretariat Advisors, “Tremendous Machine” pays homage to the 1973 Belmont Stakes, where the eventual Triple Crown winner, Secretariat, was famously said to be “moving like a tremendous machine” around the final corner. Law Rocks 2024 was the band’s inaugural performance and they cannot wait to take the stage again and rock out for their local Atlanta community in 2026!

Legal Issues
Featuring legal talent from Law Office of Andrew C. Huff; Law Office of Ray Ejarque; Law Office of Greg Hoover
Rocking for Cancer Lifeline
We are three attorneys and a scientist who have been good friends for years. We're all music junkies and have always talked about forming a rock band. Once our kids were grown, we decided to go for it and started rehearsing in a rented studio. Soon after, we started playing at various functions, events, bars and other establishments wanting live music. We absolutely loved it and have been performing pretty steady ever since. Our genre tends to be classic rock, but we also have several originals and take on newer material when the mood hits us. We like to rock the house and be loud. Thank you Law Rocks!
The Orphan 40
Featuring legal talent from Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala
Rocking for Rebuilding Hope
“The Orphan 40” is the solo, acoustic project of PCVA Partner Ian Bauer, who spends his days representing survivors of child sexual abuse and can be otherwise found on a stage somewhere in the greater Puget Sound region with a guitar in hand, as a regular gigging musician. Prior to and during law school, Ian played in and around Seattle solo and in bands, before professional and family obligations meant stepping back from playing live. The Orphan 40 began when, during a sleepless night in the middle of a contentious trial and on the heels of his mom’s Stage IV cancer diagnosis, Ian did something he hadn’t done for years – hit the record button on his do-it-yourself home recording setup. The result? Dozens of originals and eclectic covers stripped down to their bare essentials – solo guitar and vocals recorded live, to capture and convey the raw emotion of the moment, where the imperfections and straightforward arrangements reflect an earnest authenticity all too often lacking in the modern music industry. One thing led to another, and within a matter of weeks Ian began booking shows as The Orphan 40 many months in advance, with thousands of monthly listeners checking in from Seattle to Stockholm, and everywhere in between.

Side Bar
Featuring legal talent from Kaplan Fox; Mauriello Law Firm; Cirlin Goldberg
Rocking for Troy & Baden Biddle Foundation
Side Bar is back at Law Rocks with a brand-new lineup and a shared love of live music.
This year’s band brings together musicians from WA and CA for one night of ‘80s-inspired rock, new wave, and crowd favorites. Fronted by Bainbridge Island’s Amanda Horn on vocals, Side Bar features Jason Cirlin on guitar, Justin Farar on bass, Tom Mauriello on keyboards and Tom Zeliff on drums. Although this will be the first time this lineup takes the Law Rocks stage together, the group brings years of performing experience, a genuine love of playing live, and just enough confidence to think this is a good idea.
