Experiencing the rock star musical talent within the legal community never gets old! On Thursday, September 17, 2026, Atlanta legal pros took the stage at The Loft and left no question whether lawyers can really rock. The night was full of standout performances of songs by artists ranging from Van Halen to Nelly to Chappell Roan. In addition to rocking on stage, the bands also rocked as fundraisers, bringing in over $78,580 by the end of the evening.

Kicking off the night with a heavy hit of pure rock and roll vibes, Random Baldwin opened with “Black” by Pearl Jam. Standout moments from their set included a classic cover of “Patience” by Guns N’ Roses and the whole band joining in singing “(Don’t Go Back To) Rockville” by R.E.M. While the band has no relation the Baldwin Brothers, we can’t argue they don’t have the charisma!

Next up, defending champions The Weight of Authority started with a smashing rendition of “Superstition” by the great Stevie Wonder. With glitz, glitter, a costume change, and a double-dose of Dolly Parton complete with cowboy hats for the whole band, they delighted the crowd and the judges, taking home the title of Overall Winner.

We were pleased to present a Law Rocks Music Matters Grant to Atlanta Music Project, an organization empowering youth to realize their possibilities through music.

Tremendous Machine took the stage with an electric energy that never faltered. Their crowd-pleasing covers of rock classics like “I Love Rock N Roll” by Joan Jett and “American Girl” by Tom Petty had the crowd singing through their set, waving signs and glow sticks, and shouting for an encore. The judges were just as enthused, and the band took the Judges’ Choice Award.

Rounding out the night, The Dissenters made their Law Rocks debut opening with a killer guitar solo on “Just What I Needed” by The Cars and taking us on a musical journey of vintage hits from the ‘70s through the ‘90s. The band’s high-energy performance matched their enthusiastic fundraising efforts, earning them the evening’s Hustle & Heart Award.

We had an amazing night rocking with our Atlanta bands and the crowd who came out to rock with them and support our mission.

Rocking for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

The Dissenters are a seven-piece Classic, 80s, and Modern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, born, fittingly, in the file storage room of Jones Day's Atlanta office in 2025. Six of the band's seven members work at the global law firm Jones Day; the seventh member, Stephanie Blank, wanted to be a part of the band so badly that she married one of the band members. United by a shared, insatiable love of music, including The Allman Brothers, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many other influential bands, The Dissenters fuse hard-hitting guitar, bass, and drum work with strong, harmonized male-female vocals that will make you want to call your best friend from high school after the set. As former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice David Nahmias put it, "The Dissenters play all the songs you forgot you missed."

What sets the band apart is the talent behind the music. Lead guitarist Jason Burnette quite possibly the only clerk of both the U.S. Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit who can also rip the lead on "Sweet Child o' Mine" anchors the group's sound. Up front on vocals is Stephanie Blank, one of Georgia’s most recognized community activists and the only one of them who can bring the house down on everything from "Dani California" to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". Next, Chuck Hodges provides the male vocal harmonies while Koby Shaw and Bobby Bellen mesmerize with vocals and guitar. Holding down our backline is Randy Cecale on bass, and Chaz Rithmire on drums.

With a setlist built to entertain, The Dissenters are thrilled to bring their energy to the Law Rocks stage in support of a good cause.

Made up of legal professionals from Secretariat Advisors, “Tremendous Machine” pays homage to the 1973 Belmont Stakes, where the eventual Triple Crown winner, Secretariat, was famously said to be “moving like a tremendous machine” around the final corner. Law Rocks 2024 was the band’s inaugural performance and they cannot wait to take the stage again and rock out for their local Atlanta community in 2026!

Host - Julie Smith
Host - Julie Smith

Julie Smith is an Emmy award-winning television personality and radio host.  She began her time in Atlanta as an anchor/reporter at CBS46 in June 2016.

In addition to her presence on local, weekday newscasts, Julie hosted a daily live talk show called Atlanta Plugged In, showcasing local businesses, non-profits, public figures, politicians, and more.  Julie spent four years as a fill-in host on local Atlanta foodie show, Atlanta Eats. Some of her favorite interviews include Snoop Dogg, HLN’s Robin Meade, and Fawn Weaver, CEO of Uncle Nearest Whisky. 

 A graduate of the University of Louisville in KY, Julie began her television career there, hosting a live talk show called Louisville Live This Morning.  In 2011, she set her sights on Los Angeles, CA where she was a freelance on camera and event host/emcee interviewing locals and celebrities like Bryan McNight, Evander Holifield, Hilary Duff, and more. 

Julie has been the celebrity red carpet host for Churchill Downs at the Kentucky Derby which draws crowds of over 150,000 each year interviewing celebrities such as Ice T and Coco, Josh Groban, Nick and Vanessa Lachey and she was the host of the first Law Rocks Atlanta, in 2019.

Judge - Heather Beverly
Judge - Heather Beverly

Former Board of Governors of the Recording Academy member, Heather Beverly is an entertainment attorney, speaker, consultant and author. As founder and CEO of the Law Office of Heather Beverly, P.C. she is recognized for being a veteran powerbroker and with an expansive and impressive roster of clients.  Her firm represents film and tv producers, writers and production companies; radio personalities; executives, entrepreneurs, influencers; and some of the music industry’s legends as well as top pop, hip-hop, R&B and gospel artists, producers and entertainers.  Ms. Beverly is also the founder and CEO of Soul Reciprocity, LLC (lifestyle brand providing tools for one’s quest for SOUL-FULL relationships of all kinds). In 2025, Ms. Beverly released her first book “Soul Reciprocity: Quest to Soul-FULL Relationships” in conjunction with the World of Soul Reciprocity online store at www.soulreciprocity.shop.

Judge - Lowell Fuchs
Judge - Lowell Fuchs

Lowell Fuchs serves as Senior Director of Development at Atlanta Music Project, where he works to grow philanthropic support and build partnerships that help advance the organization’s mission. Throughout his career, he has worked across the human services, disability services, education, and arts sectors, helping nonprofit organizations strengthen their fundraising efforts, build meaningful community relationships, and expand their impact.

Before joining AMP, Lowell held development leadership roles with several Georgia nonprofits, including Communities In Schools of Georgia and InCommunity, where he led institutional giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation relations, and strategic fundraising initiatives that expanded philanthropic support and strengthened organizational capacity. He also served as Director of VSA Arts of Georgia, leading statewide programming and community partnerships that increased access to art and culture for individuals with disabilities.

Lowell holds a Master of Music in Composition from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Georgia State University. Before transitioning into nonprofit leadership, he taught as an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech and maintained an active career as a composer, percussionist, and interdisciplinary artist. His creative work has been presented nationally and internationally, reflecting his belief in the power of the arts to bring people together, strengthen communities, and inspire positive change.

A lifelong Georgian, Lowell lives in Atlanta's Upper Westside with his wife, a public school orchestra director. Outside of work, he enjoys performing as a percussionist, restoring their historic home, and exploring Atlanta’s vibrant arts and music community.

Judge - Guitar Gabby

Atlanta native Gabriella “Guitar Gabby” Logan is a Strategy Lawyer and proud Spelman College and Vermont Law School graduate. Her passion for perspective fueled her desire to establish TxLips Band, LLC., a global entity that triples as a TxLips Academy, TxLips Consulting Group, and an international female and gender-expansive rock collective. Logan believes it is vital for people to be well-rounded and strategic in creating careers based on passion and built off longevity.

Judge - Meredith Ragains
Judge - Meredith Ragains

Meredith Ragains is an Executive Director and Senior Legal Counsel with over 25 years of broad-based legal, governance, and organizational leadership experience. Since 2013, she has served as Executive Director of Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, leading strategic operations, managing a 33-member Board of Directors, and expanding annual revenue by 750% while overseeing pro bono legal services for hundreds of artists and arts organizations each year.

A former commercial litigator and federal law clerk, Meredith holds a J.D. from Mercer University School of Law and a B.A. from Emory University, where she also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Contract Drafting. She is an active leader in the Georgia legal and non-profit communities, holding leadership roles in the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club.
