We are pleased to announce the first members of the Dallas City Advisory Board of Law Rocks. City Advisory Boards provide invaluable support and knowledge for Law Rocks, ensuring we flourish in the community. We are beyond grateful to these individuals for joining the Dallas chapter, chaired by Law Rocks Board member, Joy Murao. DALLAS CITY ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR -
JOY MURAO
Joy Murao brings a wealth of experience to the legal profession, with a career spanning over 25 years at the intersection of law and IT. Her contributions have been pivotal in establishing and directing the legal operations/practice support departments of leading firms, including Latham & Watkins and Paul Hastings, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and excellence in this space. Joy is a strong advocate for legal education and tech adoption, holding leadership roles in prominent legal organizations such as the California Lawyers Association (CLA), Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), and Women in eDiscovery (WIE)

Her commitment to the industry led her to establish Practice Aligned Resources (PAR), where she continues her mission of empowering lawyers and paralegals with technology. The PAR Center, under her guidance, has become a beacon for legal education, professional networking, and technology showcases in Los Angeles. Hosting a variety of events, from eDiscovery Day celebrations to technology user groups, career coaching sessions, webinars, and podcasts, the center has solidified its place as a hub for professional development in the local community.

Building on the success of the Los Angeles PAR Center, Joy is now embarking on an innovative journey with The PAR Center Pop-Up. This initiative captures the essence of the original PAR Center, transforming it into a mobile format, making legal technology education and resources accessible to a broader audience. Through a month-long Pop-Up format, Joy continues to demonstrate her commitment to the integration of legal expertise and technological advancement, paving the way for the future of legal education and practice.

Jerry is the Founder & CEO of Right Forensics and a highly sought-after digital forensics expert with over 20 years of experience. Corporations frequently rely on him for regulatory responses, trade secret disputes, and expert witness testimony in computerforensics.He serves as an external advisor to INTERPOL, contributing to Metaverse Forensics and Synthetic Media programs, and has partnered with AARP to educate vulnerable populations on avoiding deepfake scams.Jerry also works with the Financial Services Volunteer Corp, providing technical assistance to Digital Investigators in Southern Africa. Known for his expertise, he is often requested for in-depth forensic examinations and serves as a court-appointed neutral to advance stalled cases in ediscovery.

Throughout his career, Kevin has been instrumental in driving growth, expanding international operations, and implementing strategic initiatives, significantly advancing legal technology solutions, process efficiencies, and client service delivery.

MELISSA HEIDRICK

Melissa is the founder of mmData, an organization dedicated to spatial computing for the legal sector. She is a technology columnist for the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Magazine,and serves as Of Counsel for Kidd Production LLP, a Texas-based oil company. She is the Directorof Social Media and Brand Management for the nonprofit organization, Women in eDiscovery,and a Director at Large for the North Texas chapter of ACEDS. Melissa and her husband run anexotic animal farm outside of Dallas.Admitted to the State Bar of Texas, Melissa earned her J.D. from Southern Methodist University’sDedman School of Law, and her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin. She has extensiveexperience leading cross functional legal teams and managing the execution of complexdiscovery matters. She also develops, implements, manages, and vets emerging legal andeDiscovery technology solutions -with a special interest in AI and spatial computing projects.

ALEX JACOBS
Alex Jacobs has more than twenty-four years of experience answering discovery requests and assisting clients with internal investigations in civil litigation and in response to a criminal, governmental, or regulatory subpoena.He has worked within service providers, consulting firms, law firms, and industry startups. Mr. Jacobs works on clients’ most complex matters, using cutting-edge technology to minimize risk and cost. He is experienced and certified in multiple technology platforms and regularly creates new workflow tools as bespoke deliverables for client engagements.Mr. Jacobs has worked on high-profile matters in most major industry verticals, including aerospace, oil and gas, financial services and banking, insurance, real estate, and transportation. He is well versed in all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM), identifying cost-reduction strategies that exist upstream from the eDiscovery process. He regularly consults with clients on best practices and protocols for data governance and information management, including deploying culture and education campaigns to increase employee retention of legal department policies and procedures.

Rich Robinson is a seasoned professional in the legal-technology field with a career spanning over two decades. A graduate of Georgetown University with a degree in Psychology, Rich began his journey in 1999 in the IT department at Mintz Levin, a prominentlaw firm in Boston, Massachusetts. His extensive experience includes various roles in IT and Litigation Support at large and medium-sized law firms in Boston, MA, Providence, RI, Austin, TX, and Dallas, TX.Rich has also served as a national eDiscovery Consultant for Xact Data Discovery and spent seven years as the eDiscovery and Information Manager for JCPenney, where he honed his skills in Legal Operations. In 2019, he joined Toyota as the Director of Legal Operations and Litigation Support, bringing his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the company.In addition to his professional roles, Rich is a founding board member of the bDiscovery and ACEDS chapters in Dallas and a member of the Education Advisory Committee for CLOC. He is a sought-after speaker at eDiscovery and Legal Operations conferences nationwide, sharing his insights and experiences with the broader legal-technology community.
