Oxford Art Factory
What. A. Night. First, huge thank-yous to our esteemed judges, Cass the photographer, our hosts Oxford Art Factory, our sponsors FTI, Transperfect and Korda Mentha, and Yalari for sending along their ambassador.
Secondly, but definitely no less importantly, HUGE congratulations to MintEllica for a storming set and a well-deserved win. We now all want pink hair.
Finally, more thank yous to all of our bands – Transperfect, Allens, Minters, Greenway, NRF and DLA - for bringing the energy, the music and the crowd, and the dollars for charity. You are all superstar rock gods and we love watching you do your thing.

mintellica
Featuring legal talent from MinterEllison
MintEllica was formed at MinterEllison in 2016 to take part in the second edition of Law Rocks in Sydney. In their debut performance, the band followed up AC-DC with Adele and that set the tone for the band. MintEllica showcases the diversity that exists within the world of rock, rather than focusing on any one of its sub-genres. When MintEllica hits the stage, the only thing you can expect is variety.
James “Hetfield” Stanton and Phil “as intense as Lars” Turner are the yin and yang of MintEllica and have been with the band since its inception. Singer and rhythm guitarist James, a Senior Associate from MinterEllison’s disputes and insurance group, brings unrivalled energy on stage and his costumes and make-up are stuff of Law Rocks legend. James will be playing a MinterEllison branded guitar supplied by charity, The Blue Guitar Project, for whom the firm has undertaken significant pro bono work. Lead guitarist and Special Counsel, Phil, despite being largely immobile on stage, is the guy who mobilises the band offstage. The attention to detail that Phil has as a financial services lawyer he brings to all things MintEllica.
The band’s rhythm section comprises two of the nicest lawyers you will ever meet. Kosta Hountalas on drums is MintEllica’s pulse and also brings to the band some much needed tattoos. Big Pat McElhone is unflappable whether on the bass guitar or in the office.
Making their MintEllica debut are singers, Stella “Pink” Luo and George Napier, and keyboard player Andrew Choi, a man who successfully auditioned for the Conservatorium of Music at Sydney Uni, but turned down their offer to pursue a career in the law. Don’t be fooled by their amazing talent and youthful good looks, this trio really work as Graduates at MinterEllison.
MintEllica would like to acknowledge the support of MinterEllison’s Community Investment program and in particular Keith Rovers and Anton Hermann.
