The 100 Club
Wow! What a night! Last night The 100 Club rocked once more with five bands from across the UK coming together to battle it out. We had Marks & Clerk from London, Harrison Drury from Manchester, Harrison Clark Rickerbys from Hereford, TLT from Bristol and Blake Morgan from Southampton!
Blake Morgan opened in their usual way - note perfect and rocking out! Two of their number (John Parkinson and Richard Wade) have been playing at Law Rocks! since 2010 so they know their way around a set list or two. Brave to take on Simple Minds' Don't You Forget About me, but they pulled it off, and then some!
Next up were were Law Rocks! virgins Harrison Clark Rickerbys. A particularly impressive rendition of Zombie got the crowd behind them and they didn't do themselves any harm with a note perfect Creep by Radiohead. The vocals and drums stood out as excellent with the Judges.
Mid evening respectability was given to TLT. The TiLT boys have been a favourite of many for a long time at law Rocks! - they always have the most eclectic sets, and deliver what they came to deliver - a set of rock songs. We think it's the first time What's The Frequency Kenneth? has been played at a Law Rocks! gig, and it was brilliant!!
Penultimate band up were Harrison Drury. These guys won the first ever Law Rocks! Manchester last year and part of the prize for doing so was a slot in London. When you consider only their second LR performance ever included songs by The Smiths, Primal Scream, Martha Reeves, The Zutons and U2, you might agree with us it was a brave set!
Last up but by no means least, were Marks & Clerk. These guys are previous winners and regularly play our Unplugged gigs too. A first airing of Clean Bandit and Jamiroquai at LR we think, and they killed it. A very clever mash up was involved too - quite how much work goes into those we can only imagine.
There can as ever only be one winner, and that was Harrison Drury. But what next for them? They have a 100% record of the LR gigs they have entered so far...... Well done guys - great work!!!
We have a few more gigs left this year in London - make sure you are at one of them! They are all going to be pretty special!!
