Fourth Annual Law Rocks New York City
Nonprofit organization that hosts legal professionals in battle of the bands fundraising concerts around the world returns to New York City to enthusiastic response
New York – Law Rocks, alongside presenting sponsors Greenberg Traurig and Quinn Emanuel, is presenting the Fourth Annual Law Rocks New York City this Thursday, November 2. Nine bands of musically talented legal professionals representing 15 law firms will rock out for local charities. Held at the historic Gramercy Theatre, the night has already surpassed Law Rocks’ single-night record for total fundraising, at over $153,300 and growing.
The winning band will be selected by four factors: donations raised, tickets and sponsorships, audience favorite, and Rock Panel of Judges score. There will also be special recognition for the band with the highest marks from the Rock Panel of Judges. The Rock Panel includes New York Times best-selling author Anthony Bozza, co-writer of Slash: It Seems Excessive But That Doesn’t Mean It Didn’t Happen, Tommyland, and many more; Victor Bushell, founding member of Bushell Sovak Ozer & Gulmi LLP and an avid musician; and Wendy La Manque, an associate with Cohen, Weiss & Simon, a singer and flautist, and advisor to the "Leave a Lasting Mark" concert series for charity. The event will be emceed by Chuck Jarrell of Allen Matkins in Los Angeles, a member of the Law Rocks Board of Directors.
Reigning champs The Meltones of Greenberg Traurig will battle against returning and new bands. The concert features legal professionals from Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard; Davis Gilbert; Davis Polk & Wardwell; Day Pitney; Debevoise & Plimpton; Giordano Halleran & Ciesla; Greenberg Traurig; Hogan Lovells; K&L Gates; Locke Lord; Palantir; Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan; Walkers Global; White & Case; the US government; and private practice.
“We love coming to New York,” says Law Rocks Director of Marketing and Development, Omi Crawford. “From day one the city has embraced this event.” The nine participating bands are fundraising to benefit area charities Advocates for Children of New York, amfAR, Community the Kid’s Café program of FoodBank of New Jersey, Connecticut Veterans Legal Center, the Campus Pantries program of Food Bank for New York City, Her Justice, Legal Services NYC, Jazz Foundation of America. National Kidney Foundation serving Greater New York, and New York Civil Liberties Union Foundation. A representative from each organization will appear at the event to introduce the bands.
In addition to presenting Hall of Fame sponsors, Greenberg Traurig and Quinn Emmanuel, the event is made possible by sponsors KLS Professional Advisors Group; Locke Lord; Day Pitney; Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard; and Secretariat International.
After seeing success from the first concert in London 2009, Law Rocks brought the event to the United States in 2012 and tours to Austin, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington DC in addition to New York City.
